I am driven by a firm belief in the power of music to transform lives, and the necessity for all children to have access to high quality musical learning opportunities as part of their everyday schooling. Moreover, I know from experience that the higher the quality of the intrinsic musical learning the greater the benefits of the extrinsic value of music education for each individual child and young person.
As a teacher, I have designed and implemented curriculum models from Early Years to Key Stage Five that ensure that all children make exceptional progress and develop the skills, confidence and love of music that will remain with them throughout their lives.
Additionally, I have developed and delivered extra-curricular projects that enhance a rich and exciting music curriculum working with industry professionals and partnering with arts organisations in a meaningful and bespoke way. As a consequence of this work my pupils have had the opportunity to perform numerous works at some of this country’s best concert venues.
In 2019, I was appointed as a Specialist Leader of Education through The National College of Teaching and Leadership. Through this work I have had the privilege of expanding my work and sharing my experience on a wider scale. Working with individual schools, teachers, Music Education Hubs, Education Partnerships and other music education organisations to deliver staff training, support curriculum design and implementation and mentor individual teachers. I have also created content and composed music for digital music education providers and designed and delivered online CPD.
Music is one of the greatest gifts of my life and it is my vocation to share this with as many young people as possible.
